Shoe Care Innovation’s Founder and Chairman, Allan Ullman, suffered from Onychomycosis (toenail fungus). He underwent three courses of treatment using a popular oral anti-fungal medicine, but each time the foot fungus came back. Talking this over with his podiatrist, Allan realized that his shoes had been re-infecting his feet!
Fungus lives in our shoes in the form of spores. Even if you do not wear your shoes for several months, the spores can lie dormant in your shoes. Once you start to wear your shoes again, the heat and perspiration from your feet can cause the fungal spore to grow into toenail fungus or athlete’s feet.
Allan combined his inventive nature (he already had five U.S. patents) with his 30 years of commercial lighting experience to invent the world’s first ultraviolet shoe sanitizer.
Adam Ullman, Allan’s son and 3rd generation inventor and entrepreneur, worked with Allan to develop and commercialize the ultraviolet shoe sanitizer. Adam runs Shoe Care Innovations, Inc. as its President and CEO. With over 80,000 satisfied customers, the company is currently rolling out its second generation SteriShoe sanitizers.
