Isocentric®
The Reciprocating Gait Orthosis or RGO is the most widely used brace designed for meeting the ambulatory needs of child or adult who are suffering from paralysis. Various types of RGO’s, used presently are: the dual-cable and horizontal cable produced by Fillauer, Inc., and others. RGO braces offer outstanding walking function as compared to other appliances. It has hands-free standing and the use of orthosis prevents the likelihood for hip contractures. As one leg bends with every step, the other leg must be extended and in turn stretches out the hip contracting structures. Even at the early age of 18 months, agile patients can be fitted with it, providing them a good chance to walk and stand and hence enjoy in advance the physiological, skeletal, and psychological benefits of sitting and standing vertically.
