A gamma camera is a tool that is used to investigate the gamma rays spread by the body following imposition of radioactive agents. It is one of the most frequently used nuclear medicine technique. A radioactive substance can be injected into patient’s vein, inhaled or ingested. The radioactive substance concentrates in certain organ that is under observation and spreads gamma rays. A gamma camera detects these rays and creates views of the organ that can be seen in the computer. Simple gamma cameras create 2D images and those with dual head can create 3D views.
