SALVIA medical is one of the world's leading technology providers of devices for clinical ventilation and respiratory therapy. We develop and produce patient-friendly solutions. The highest priorities of our work are to ensure optimal treatment outcomes, simple and fail-proof operation, and maximum comfort for patients and staff.
History of SALVIA medical, from humble beginnings to ventilator specialist
Salvia was founded in the 1950s as a company for complex measurement and control technology solutions for sophisticated industrial applications. Very soon, the company was bought up by the pharmaceutical industry and initially produced operation and control systems for dialysis devices. By expanding with its own R&D department, complete dialysis devices and hemofiltration systems were developed and produced. In course of the pharmaceutical industry focussing on the core business, the company was spun off as ‘Salvia Regel- und Medizintechnik GmbH’ and finally in 1993 to ‘Salvia Lifetec Geräte für Medizintechnik GmbH & Co. KG’. The synchronization of patients and machines was given a higher priority as intensive care ventilation increasingly became a standard medical procedure. The company had the control technology expertise to develop optimal solutions for the ventilation of patients. This opened up a new business area, which would ultimately become our exclusive specialization: Ventilation devices for clinical ventilation and respiratory therapy in application areas such as ICUs, IMCs, emergency rooms, anesthesia, general care units, and in home care. In course of the reorientation and advancement of the brand Salvia the name was changed in September 2013 from Salvia Lifetec to SALVIA medical®.

Nevertheless, SALVIA medical is and will remain "made in Germany." We are fully committed to our business location in Germany that supports our company's strengths: our pooled scientific and technological research and development expertise as well as production quality that meets the highest standards.
